September 7, 2020 - Forest floor, mushroom, sweat and blue/red fruit on nose. Close to stanky although there is a good blue fruit core. Almost Morey like on nose. Blows off with some air.
Blue fruits on palate. Lots of density and heft. Needs time. Low alcohol.

February 11, 2020 - Bottles drunk with lunch or dinner while in Burgundy; 2/10/2020-2/14/2020 (Burgundy): For the money, this is a pretty disappointing wine. Expressive with plenty of sexy black cherry, tea and spice. Comes across a bit heavy handed with little subtlety. I wonder if this has the structure and freshness to support the fruit. High 80s now.

February 11, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 1 (Beaune, France): For the price this commands on the secondary market, I'd be pretty upset. But in France... In any case, there's a really nice perfume on the nose, with all that black spice and heady fruit. But like most of the other lieu-dit CLBs I've had, this falls short on the palate, without much of the weight and potency that the nose promises. Here, it's a little foursquare and short, with some grainy tannins too.

May 3, 2019 - A private lunch (Restaurant Ma Cuisine, Beaune, France): Bottle No. 1491 from 3072 bottles produced. Open and expressive nose, aromatic, pure and transparent, ripe but fresh fruit, Asian spices, high quality low toast oak, screams Vosne; the polished palate combines mouthcoating richness wth elegance, completely smooth tannins, fresh and ripe, power without weight, excellent flavour intensity of fruit and flowers (violets, roses), perfectly integrated oak (100% new), carried by its mineral energy; there is a fan of aromatic spices on the finish, which has excellent length. Impeccably made, clearly transcends its village status, Premier Cru level easily, and the price on the secondary market more than reflects this. Amazingly drinkable now, twenty years in it.

October 15, 2018 - This was brought out late in the evening by Lukasz which was a hugely generous gesture. I must admit that after tasting Liger Belair Cras 14 and Reignots 09 earlier this year I have been befallen somewhat by an obsession for this Domaine. This bottle unfortunately fell a bit short of expectation which might be due to catching it too early. The wine looked very dark in the glass, it got 100 pct new oak treatment I believe which the fruit felt not quite able to absorb making it slightly brute and clumsy following a lovely Grivot Beaumont 09. The fruit never truly revealed itself and the table concluded that it simply wasn’t worth the price tag. So based on my limited experience it seems that this cuvee is probably not suited that well to the domaine’s style of giving it the full oak treatment it was too reductive. I will be TRYING to get my hands on his other cuvees. If you own this let it sleep for a long long time and keep your fingers crossed it comes out the tunnel a beauty which I fail to realistically foresee at this point.

June 26, 2018 - tasted next to the 15 Clos du Chateau. Showing a darker more structured frame to the wine. Not as giving and elegant as the CDC but denser and more concentrated on the palate. Needed time to flourish while the CDC was banging from the get go. Still a very good wine - has a sappiness to it that I enjoy.

December 3, 2017 - Spicy stem, crisp red berries rise out on the nose. The palate is such velvety sappy fruit. The wine is stuffed to the gills but lithe. Screams vosne on the nose and palate. Has a little bit of sweet wood but the acid and backbone is giving. Crazy long finish. Can’t believe it’s drinking so well and complex this young.

December 3, 2017 - Very soft and pretty to start. This didn't start to show its signature until 2 hours later. A bit riper and a touch more oak compared to 2014. Served blind. I guessed 05 due to abundant fruit yet structure. Call me crazy but I think I prefer the 14.

June 28, 2016 - Tuesday Cellar Visits in Burgundy - Remoissenet, Bernard Moreau, Pousse d'Or, Comte Liger-Belair (Cote d'Or): Barrel tasting at the domaine. Black and red cherry aromas with sweet spice. More red fruit flavors with bigger spice, elegant textures. Long finish with more concentration than usual for Colombiere in 2015. VG+ potential.
