February 24, 2020 - Producer describes it as "an every day Supertuscan"... Sorry, I don't agree. While it does fit into the category (70% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot), it lacks the expected body and richness; and for another thing, it's not accesible enough to be drunk every day; it takes about an hour to open up. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad; just not "super".
Rather thin and earthy, with red fruits (raspberry, cherry), blackberry, plums, licorice and goji berry nuances. Mushrooms, maybe?
Medium tart finish with firm tannins.
At this price point, I expected more. -

December 8, 2018 - Franz Zimmermann Lagerverkauf 2018 (Roßhaupten, Bayern): Pleasant blackcurrant nose with some spice. Smooth and oaky in the mouth, medium bodied and relatively soft tannin. Lacks a bit of acid and the oak is rather too prominent. Still decent wine.

July 16, 2017 - This is a great value. Pure and simple. Openned this at a dinner party two days ago and finishing the bottle now. Drinking just great and I think it is better now then when we opened it. We also had a Croz Hermitage open and two others so this one didn't get downed. I remember preferring the Croz HErmatige as I love Rhone and especially Northern Rhone when it is good. This wine was good then but I believe it is better two days later which is rare in a low price point wine.
This wine is a terrific super Tuscan at the price point. 70/30 Sangiovese and MErlot. There is this blend of old world/new world going on and working really nicely in this wine. The bouquet is perfumed cherries and blackberries with hints of tar and licorice. The palatte has plenty of the sam efruit in it but also a big mouthfeel with lots of texture that I like. 13 on the alcohol but it tastes more. Very interesting wine. I am going to go get a case and do a deeper tasting of a bottle 1, 2 and 3 days in.
