March 12, 2024 - Very Burgundian, savory character. For once, I’m not sensing the fruit as much as prior bottles, so the acidity is a bit more noticeable, as are the remaining tannins, which offer a drying finish. Not as enjoyable as the Patricia Green Freedom Hill 2014 drunk beforehand with our steak. Drink up, I’d say, but will try again with food…

May 16, 2022 - I’ve had a couple of bottles that were cloudy over the past few months, but this one was clear for the early glass, but has clouded up in the last glass of the bottle (half the bottle is in a half decanter for tomorrow.) But aroma and palate not impaired: Damson plum and cherry nose, with a touch of spice. Sense the plum coming through to the palate, and the cherry becoming more of a sour cherry, I think, with the iron filings that I saw another taster note. Medium long finish.

January 15, 2022 - still drinking well. Cherry, tangerine and a hint of plum fruit, iron, mushroom and forest floor.

October 3, 2021 - I’ve been drinking Hamilton-Russel Pinot since at least the 2005 vintage (but surely earlier, just not recorded), and the 2012 illustrates why I keep coming back for more. [Cellartracker says I have too many ‘ready to drink’, but I’ll ignore that.] This vintage has classic bright ruby color, and medium body. Red cherry and plum, perhaps, on a savory palate that must be a result of whole cluster efforts- very stemmy, but still plenty of fruit there after nine years in the cellar. Tannins fairly fully integrated. Paired superbly with duck liver pate, as well as with St.Andre cheese after pate was gone.

May 12, 2020 - Wow, still seems young...Well structured, with long tannic finish.
