July 28, 2023 - Needed an hour to open up. Dark ruby colour; dark red fruit, earth and forest notes, forward and inviting . Ripe tannins still present but offset by intense fruit. Long. Very enjoyable. Approaching prime time.

July 27, 2022 - Très bon cru Bourgeois toujours bien en forme et “dans son prime”. Robe grenat, pourtour montrant peu de signes d’âge. Cuir, tabac, fruits noirs, cerises, torréfaction, café, tawny, finement boisé. C’est un costaud, le cabernet n’est pas en reste même s’il n’y est qu’à 30%, on n’est pas dans le côté joufflu de certains Merlots. En bouche, le fruit généreux s’équilibre parfaitement avec des tannins étoffés, ennoblis par les années mais toujours structurés; l’acidité a juste ce qu’il faut pour garder le tout bien droit. Moderne certes, mais sérieux et sans artifices. Il n’a fait qu’un avec la bavette BBQ bien saignante. Mon apprentissage ici est qu’un cru bourgeois, majoritairement fait de Merlot peut être encore en forme après 17 ans. Le millésime y est surement pour quelque chose. Le travail bien fait aussi.
