January 8, 2023 - Subtle aromas of graphite, cassis with a mineral edge and the floral lift of blueberry. The palate does have tannins which are a tad dusty at this stage but it got better the longer it was in glass/decanter. Definitely needs food to lift it and something with a bit of fat or richness. I think this still has at least 3-5+ years life as the fruit is still fresh and it hasn’t developed many tertiary characteristics bar a little leather and forest floor. I gave it about 1-2 hours in decanter before serving and I suspect it would improve further with time should we have any left!

May 10, 2022 - I've had this wine more than a half dozen times and I've tried my best to like it. There is cassis and some pencil shavings on the nose, the tannins have softened but remain a bit coarse, there are red and blue fruits, but the fruit does not seem to overcome the tannic profile and structure of the wine, and also it is quite oaky - at least initially. It seems that it has been made with a heavy hand in the cellar and one wonders if when the tannins have softened the fruit will have completely faded leaving just an old wine. Still maybe this is a classic old school Pessac? Perhaps one for the faithful but will not be a repeat purchase for me. It is not unpleasant, it just seem to lack a bit of freshness. From Zalto Universal and Conterno Sensory.

May 7, 2022 - Opened 2hrs in advance, no decanter.
Deep ruby young color.
Intense nose with red currant, smoke, cedar.
Medium body, with silky ripe tannins that still have some grip, juicy red currant, licorice, chocolate, some drying oak with the medium length aftertaste.
Still young but very juicy and enjoyable. Try again in 2years. -

January 8, 2022 - Nose of black berry, leather, and dust, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, new style Bordeaux, and a long, long finish, 2 photos uploaded, from a magnum. auction bottle for $44, enjoyed this wine over 3 nights, better the third night than the first.
