September 10, 2020 - 90+. This held up very well. Touch of forest floor on the nose. Sweet core of blackcherry and sour cherry palate, smooth mouthfeel, still in balance.

June 4, 2019 - Red and black cherry, some leathery notes (but integrated, not oxidative), mushrooms. Good acids, just a bit of tannin left, good length. B+

October 18, 2018 - Last bottle. Fully mature. Still pretty dark in color. Full and rich. Nice grip. Showing some early tertiary notes. Cherry fruit, damp earth, menthol, lovely bite. For my palate this is terrific. These will hold awhile longer, but why wait? Amazingly good wine for $30.

April 12, 2017 - 2/2. Good cork - decanted 1/2 hr. Youthful appearance - deep ruby core, pale ruby rim. Nose is deep and fragrant with spicy, sour dark cherry fruit, touch of soil - again quite youthful. Medium bodied, attractively pure more red-toned cherry fruit, sour/spicy edge, touch of tea leaves, a firm but fine tannic spine, attractive vibrant acidity, slightly firm medium/good length finish. Very good indeed and still drinking well.

(Chianti Classico FONTODI) Chianti Classico Dear Friends, The Fontodi train rolls along with a great deal on a magnum of the lovely 2004 Chianti Classico. This is a wine I could drink several times per week and still look forward to the next encounter. If you are having a dinner party for 10 or more, this well-priced magnum will turn heads from a visual standpoint but the real appeal will be when it is opened. With a rare personality that combines deft terroir, a food-friendly structure and enough accessibility and elegance to charm almost any palate, I would consider this strongly for an important event as it will not break the bank but the wine is world-class. Really a top effort and the strength of the vintage is more than evident here (this wine contains quite a bit of material that also ended up in the WA95 Vigna del Sorbo): ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance directly from the source - these have not been sitting on a store shelf since 2006 when it was released: 2004 Fontodi Chianti Classico 1.5lt (just an FYI, Niki is off this afternoon so you will receive your confirmations tonight or tomorrow morning) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy5456
