Community Tasting Notes 10

April 10, 2021 - Past its prime. Very flat initially, but opens up with some breathing. Ashy, earthy, no fruit. Age has smoothed the tannins, but very dry.

January 9, 2021 - Wow. This is drinking very well. Deep and complex flavors. Might be getting close to its peak. When I looked at the price after finishing the bottle, I was surprised at how low it was. This is a real value.

December 3, 2020 - N: Earthy, meaty, umami. The fruit is muted and dark, like brambly blackberry. Somehow has a silky softness to it.

P: Muted, soft dark fruit, chocolate, and earthiness. Surprisingly low tannin, the wine has a silky quality to the palate, too. Solid secondary flavor Bordeaux, but missing the fruit and freshness you'd expect at 10 years from a wine made for longer aging. Not sure how long it'll last, but I doubt it'll improve. Still, hits the spot, even if it's not amazing.

October 25, 2020 - Second wine from this domain, from an exceptional vintage. Aged for 6 months in French oak (10-15% new). Deep ruby color. Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, oak, dark chocolate, compost and dried leaves. A potent left back blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot. Smooth and voluptuous on the palate, dark fruit, with firm tannins that have a stalky, vegetal quality in the finish.

November 19, 2019 - This wine is clear with no evidence of faults. The wine is deep purple in color radiating out to a garnet rim. I smell red velvet cake, prune, a touch of cardboard (not TCA), just a hint of blackberry, and dried dates. The palate is composed of prunes, dried dates, overripe blackberries, cardboard, and a touch of caramel. The wine is fairly unbalanced, the acidity is medium, complexity is medium, tannins are soft, and the finish is medium-. Overall, this is wine is of acceptable quality.
