  • lars1014 Does not like this wine:

March 28, 2020 - I've opened up several more bottles over the years and unfortunately, it never seems to live up to its original promise. The wine has a compelling variety of fruits in the nose and in the glass. However, it remains hot and disjointed on the pallet. For me, it never seems to come together. Purchased upon release, and consumed over three days. It pains me as the 1998-2001 Mon Aieuls were (and have remained) stunning wines.

March 20, 2020 - Not as good as I remember. Nothing particularly bad. And much that was good but I had hoped for more. Great length and structure but fruit seems to have died too much.
One left so hopefully just bottle variation.

March 17, 2020 - Full bodied round mouthfeel. Rose petals, strawberries and red licorice. Very fragrant. Superfine tannins and good underlying acidity. Just starting to show a few hints of secondary development. A slight bit of heat.

February 22, 2020 - Strawberry and cherry on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, plum, and notes of earth and autumn leaves, with no detectable tannins on the medium to long finish, with moderate acidity, but no noticeable alcoholic heat. This was an average to good value at about $60.

February 8, 2020 - This is pretty large, but nothing like the 2007. It is not for me, but the non geeks I served it to liked it plenty. It has cooked dark sweet cherries, a little saddle, and some rock-like mineral.
