Community Tasting Notes 5

October 14, 2022 - Red cherry, dark berries, earth, leather and spices on the nose along with a distinct menthol note. Slightly above medium bodied (15% ABV) with nicely rounded black cherry upfront and adds a touch of black raspberry through the middle. There's a good mix of roundness and brightness and while the mid-body doesn't show additional depth or significantly increased complexity, after 3+ hours open, it does show good balance. This balance is carried over into the backside and finish and is the wine's strength. Spices, a touch of acidity and fine-grained tannins give the wine backbone, but also tie it in with the mid-body fruit, such that the transition is well integrated. Did take about three hours to fully come together and showed its best at closer to 5 hours telling me that this wine has time ahead of it. Drinking well now with enough time open and should be rewarding over the next several years.
