October 31, 2023 - Medium+ intensity on the nose, with aromas of sweet dried red cherry and cranberry, dried rose, prune, medicinal, musk, caramel, and mushroom. Medium+ acidity, high grippy tannins, and medium+ earthy finish. Considering the still aggressive tannins and the flavor concentration and acid structure, it’s probably not yet in its drinking window despite 16 years of age, so there is potential upside from here. Guess this also proved the veracity of the adage to decant older Barolo/Barbaresco!
