Community Tasting Notes 4

October 24, 2021 - In a good place. Quite a large wine, almost shows a touch of warmth and plum quality, but with an hour in decanter seems to settle down. Bottle had quite a lot of gloopy sediment so pour through muslin. Typical Sangiovese berry flavours. Sweetness on front end but balanced by pleasant tartness coming through on finish. Some tannin present but in no way over bearing. Very drinkable. I’d say drink now.

January 2, 2018 - Great boutique Brunello with rich strawberries, rhubarb, and herbs on nose. A bit of richness and spice on palate, no doubt the year. But this San Polino also remains light on its feet with light cherries, citrus and thyme elements. Savory on the finish with tart red cherries. Very different in style from Conti, but never-less a solid Brunello to be drunk with food.

July 27, 2017 - Full body, lots of heat, high fruit sweetness, burnt notes. Not my cup of Tea.

March 11, 2017 - James Suckling - Great Wines of Italy II - 2017 (The Presidio, SF): Beautiful! Intensely aromatic red cherry, tea, floral dried roses, slight perfumed VA, and slight spice from used oak. Classic palate. Light with slightly elevated alcohol and high acid. Elevated tannins. Very beautiful and soulful. This really speaks to me both aromatically and on the palate.
