October 7, 2021 - Day 2 a real step up. Day 1 was very enjoyable, lots of black fruit, some pencil shavings, some blueberry. Day 2 the graphite/shavings faded and blueberries became more pronounced.
Black in the glass, plum on the nose, full mouthfeel.

May 29, 2018 - Curious wine that really requires the right food pairing.
Opened an hour before drinking. Black fruit and earth tones in the the glass, first taste were surprisingly full bodied, integrated fruit, and appropriate floral tones. But drinking w dinner (grilled steak and grilled vegetables) the finish disappeared. Still bright fruit at first but the sweetness of the steak rub caused the finish to evaporate.

August 7, 2017 - Opened and decanted for an hour. A decent cab for the price point. I've seen recommendations for cellaring, but with limited space holding a 20 dollar bottle of Cab for 10 years didn't seem like a real possibility. I've got 4 more so let's see how it grows... one a year eh?

May 2, 2017 - Wow, this was terrible. It was so astringent, almost bitter! Absolutely terrible mouth feel. Based on the other reviews, I'm not sure if this was a bad bottle, or just that bad of an effort from DCV. And I'm someone who normally believes DCV normally produces a nice, easy drinking, at a decent value, wine.

April 16, 2017 - Much better the second night. My advice, open it and let it sit for a while. Seal and drink the second night.

February 24, 2017 - a lighter mouthfeel wine with less fruit flavor than expected. somewhat tannic/acidic but not really bad. nose is somewhat disappointing. just not a better wine.

January 30, 2017 - Very dense ruby violet hue. Blackcurrant, cedar, and coffee on the nose with faint notes of mint. Very full bodied and concentrated on the palate with 14.5% alcohol, densely textured tannins, and acidity which is somewhat mouth puckering at this stage. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec which needs some time in the bottle to soften a bit and should drink well for 20 years or more. A nice example of Sonoma Cabernet at an accessible price point.

December 24, 2016 - Really nice expression of Sonoma Cab from 2013. Lots of dark fruit, lush mouth feel, good finish. Pretty great for the money. One to buy a case of if you can.

November 16, 2016 - Deep ruby, fresh and packed with ripe fruit, this is a wine (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) with all the makings of the upper echelon. Unfortunately, it falls short when it comes to "integration." At this stage in its evolution, the fruit does not dance with the alcohol (14.5%), nor does it sing in harmony with the medium-weight-but-grippy tannins. The middle palate is hollow and the finish is truncated. Those who own this wine would be wise to give it a couple of years in the cellar. Those considering purchase should know that their wine dollar would be better spent elsewhere. Drink 2018-2023.
