May 3, 2024 - Brought to drink at Oinoscent during service. No decant, just slowly drank
Thick red fruit core, whole spice, there is a raspberry fruit note right in the middle setting the tone.
Bright palate, med body, nice balancing acidity, again plenty of red fruit, spicy frame, youthful, long finish.
After about 2hr, you get mostly black fruit and the oak gets more upfront with all its spices.

February 18, 2024 - Full, plush NSG, rich, cossetting rather than complex.

January 21, 2024 - From own cellar - Freshness on the nose, menthol, faint scent of pot-pourri upon opening that grows more obvious with extended airing. This has integrated and has shedded tannins. Overall very harmonious with respectable finish. A bit one-dimensional however with a somewhat inscrutable fruit profile which is hard to pin down. One feels an elite 1er Cru NSG in a year like 05 ought to show more. Probably just starting to come out of its shell and deserves another 5+ years of cellar time

December 3, 2023 - Opened for 90 minutes prior to serving. Didn’t decant. Still so much fruit! Dense and broad but very much in balance. Would argue that this is at peak. Lots of sediment.

November 22, 2023 - others liked this a LOT more than I did... feels like this is a great bottle of wine but like many many '05's I don't think this is anywhere near ready... if I was smart I'd bury all the '05's and not get them out for another 15 years at least

April 15, 2022 - Wow! This 2005 was absolutely stunning from the get-go. First of all I love Cailles from Chevillon! My first thoughts… Are 2005s coming around? I do not know but this NSG is bad ass. This Is crunchy with gorgeous red fruit and mineral, with a whole cluster feel (I do not know the regimen at all). It is 17 years young and not saying “oak” at all. I cannot get over the pure red berry fruit and myriad spices from a bakers cupboard, and thoughts of dusty clay and granite mineral.

September 26, 2021 - Very full, fresh, solid and long wine. More solid fruit than minerality, and with a few more hours in the glass the fruity aromas became even more clear with raspberry and rhubarb. A very satisfying wine that will live well for many more years in the cellar, but which is dangerously tempting right now.

September 25, 2021 - Rather earthy and dark aromas. Broad shouldered and tannic. Needs more time.

September 21, 2021 - The second bottle I opened was even better than the first: more intense and complex, with plenty of fruit to balance. My original comment that this is a good but not great wine was evidently an underassessment, though there might be a slight bottle variation.

August 4, 2021 - Very nice example of a complex, serious Burgundy, fully mature but still lots of sweetish dark berry fruit. Lacks the depth and intensity of a great wine but certainly a very good one. Mid- red, slight browning at edge. Surprising amount of deposit, so decanted.
