May 13, 2017 - Pale, light straw in color with a slight effervescent. Full, fragrant & aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of citrus notes of lemons & limes, green apples & grapefruit with overtones of stony, minerals & some saline notes in the background. Light bodied with a good concentration of balanced & crisp textured, ripe fruit flavors of lemons, limes & grapefruit with minerals & a hint of saline. Drinks quite well at present & may develop slight further with another year of additional aging.

December 14, 2016 - Crisp and lively, lemony green apple. Bright refreshing and with some fine frizzante. Similar to the best vinho verde, better than most witha bit more complexity to the flavors.

August 6, 2016 - A San Diego Birthday Bash (San Diego, California): The label was stamped "17-2015" so I assume this is a 2015 vintage. Frizzante, slightly effervescent, with pleasant off-dry notes of lemon-lime, touch of saline and minerals, and light bread dough. An easy drinking, quaffable, refreshing summer wine. Delicious on its own and with oysters, crackers and cheese, and a variety of other hors d'oeuvres. This is three times the price, but not three times as good, as the stylistically similar Espiral, a nice little Portuguese vinho verde for $5 at Trader Joe's.

July 5, 2016 - PnP at cellar temperature. Pours pale straw with coarse bubbles developing on the glass. The nose is not intense, but layered and complex, with seaspray, kelp, asparagus, and lemon twist. Similar crisp impression on the attack, with high effervescence (just shy of sparkling!), lemon zest flavors and upfront, medium acidity. The midpalate sees a round, plush, but still clean mouthfeel develop. The flavors evolve to lemon curd and lemon bar through the finish, with an undertone of clean saline mineral (think pink Himalayan salt). The finish is medium and lemon-centric.

Ulicia has another killer wine here; their rose garnered a 93/100 from us. The mouthfeel is rapidly changing and complex, and the nose has something for everyone. Great aperitif, fantastic with feta. "Excellent," 91/100.
