April 9, 2021 - Really nice and showing well.

Ripe green apple and sweet lemon, maybe a hint of pear. Can taste how much they racked the lees and the oak is not shy. I think this might have another year or three left in it.

September 19, 2018 - Wine dinner at The Anchor, Ripley with Ray Nadeson of Lethbridge Wines.
Ripe white cherry and hints of aromatic melon fruit. Citrus zest and good acidity and above all a tufa-like minerality (in spite of limestone soil) that brings balance and complexity to this wine. Remarkably little oak on the palate at present even though 70% of the production was matured in new toasted French oak.
Drinking well now but should have a decent plateau of say 8yrs from vintage and good chance of breaking into the 90pt excellent bracket in that time scale. 89+?+

July 23, 2018 - Named one of the most exciting wineries of Australia, Lethbridge stands out with its purity and discernment of every step in the winemaking process. It was the idea of three doctors to invest in a plot of land and – wait for it – start biodynamic farming. Not something you’d expect from three scientists, but it happens. But they couldn't stop there - Maree and Ray continued to complete their winemaking degrees at Charles Sturt University a few years later. Now that's what I call legit.

The first thought that comes to mind when you're handed a glass of Australian Chardonnay is "keep me away from your overoaked, overripe, burning-alcohol bullshit". "That's not me!", you cry out at the screen while reading this. Yeah, it's probably not, but it is 99.5% of all other people on this planet, so pipe down, Sally. I kinda feel sorry for these new guys on the scene, because they have this immense, trench-digging task ahead of them, trying to reverse the whole image of their country's most sought out white grape. But boy, did Lethbridge do a proper job. Ripe tropical fruit mixes gracefully with the juicy green apple/pear on the nose. This wine is oaked and you can detect that, but in the mouth it's so well-balanced that I want to cry. Crisp acidity, some sweet honeydew melon coming into focus and finishing off with splashes of vanilla, ripe pear and lemon rind. Let's just say that this is the best Aussie Chard I've tried. Let's just say that and see what happens.
