January 7, 2014 - Really nice surprise on a cold winter night. A Virginia red that was still robust and flavorful after 12 years. Better on the second night.

February 23, 2013 - Surprisingly good for Virginia Alicante. Tannins have decreased while bright acidity showed through the dark fruits.
The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Medium. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Bright texture. The wine finishes Medium+.1 person found this helpful Comment -

January 8, 2010 - Still difficult to drink. Fruit not quite standing up to the tannins. Probably will not get any better. Use the last cup or so to make a Beef Burgundy and that was better than the wine.

May 4, 2008 - I've had this wine before and thought it was great. It has a grittiness typical of the grape, but with age it had developed wonderful floral aromas--rose being the strongest of them. This bottle was a little bit vinegarized, so not a good example.

March 8, 2008 - Intense flavors upon initial tasting. Balanced but very tight. Decanted into 1 gallon container and shook vigorously for 1 minute. Wine softened but still dominated by the grape's forward flavor profile. Modest aromas.
