October 31, 2016 - Fruity and full flavoured but surprisingly light and drinkable - at only 12.9%, there was no flabbiness here. Unfiltered and unfined, it was obvious from appearance alone that this would be a bit different. Different it was, exhibiting intense berry and plum notes along with sweet spices. It took a while for savoury notes to come through on either the nose or palate, but eventually they presented themselves in the form of pepper, forest, and coffee. The acid on this wine was hard to describe - not sharp, but extremely tart. Odd for a red, to be certain, but not enough to overthrow the positives. Beyond the afforementioned savoury notes, the palate didn't develop a whole lot over two days. I would have liked a bit more in the way of spice/herbs to better balance things, but I still can't deny that this bottle was exceptionably drinkable!
