Community Tasting Notes 7

September 18, 2021 - Decanted 6hrs. I’ll be honest, the first glass was a tad rough, the wines quality was absolute, and without question. Being a 15, it had a really attractive core of dark blackberries with a floral halo floating around. But those tannins, deadly serious and completely dominating the proceedings. Yet the 2nd glass was much, much better, I think my taste buds had adapted to the tannic punch and all seemed in alignment resulting in a very joyful drink. I really liked this. If I could go back in a time machine I would have told 30 year old Dale to reduce CdP Purchases by 50% and start buying more Bandol reds. I would to taste a mature example someday.

August 13, 2021 - This is a fine wine. However, it is much too early to drink. Wait until the wine is ten years old and you will be richly rewarded. Tannins are a bit overwhelming and the aromas need time to develop tertiary notes. I was very pleasantly surprised to have this as a by the glass selection at the Wine Thief.

August 6, 2021 - Crushed berries and dried woody herbs on the nose. Palate is medium-full body, plenty of acid, and big structured tannins. Lots of crunchy red fruits, herbs, and rock. Oaky flavors of cigar box, leather, and dark chocolate gently elevate the long and enjoyably tannic finish.

For those (like me) with a new-world preference but an itch to see what the old-world is all about, this is really good. Give it a few hours to open up and drink with confidence.

Easily will last 10 years in the cellar. Maybe not the best value at ~$40, but this is a very satisfying wine.

February 15, 2021 - Really enjoyable, CdP-like dark fruit, herb, garrigue, mineral - big, warm but not hot.

January 15, 2021 - tasted at the domain from a 1/2 bottle opened the day before.
robe - nice and dark but not inky, not thick, showing youth with purple highlights
nose - quite expressive and primary. beautiful crushed dark berries - black berries , ripe cherries , cassis along with notes of some southern dried herbs. not too wide but more deep. very pretty considering age and place
palate - this is for the most part closed for business. the palate is smothered in ripe tannins, dusty and long. there is some dark fruits coming through a little with appropriate freshness. the length, pedigree and the balance shows me that this will age very well. side note, there is no heat on this what so ever.
this is is still very young. if i were to pop one open, i would say 4 hours or so in a decanter might push it through .
liked it so much, i bought some for the cellar
drink after 2026 and will ride for at least 20 years
