February 2, 2024 - The color here is all dark cranberry, but the nose! Wow; black cherry, sandalwood, cedar and truffles. The Palate perfectly matches the nose with every element coming through distinctly and clearly. The precision here is remarkable. The tannins are bright but certainly nicely integrating. The mouthfeel is a bit fuller than I expected adding to the delightfulness of the wine. The runway on this wine remains ample; nothing wrong with holding it. But if a data point is desired, pulling one now won’t disappoint. Some slight sediment. 12.5% alc. With assorted blue and truffled cheeses and crusty bread. 02.02.24. Recommended.

November 4, 2022 - Russk. Hello Mr. Stinky! I mean that as hi praise. Farmyard and iodine. A few more years in the bottle have made this earthy and terriary. I have tasted this before, but on far older Chinons and Bourgueils. To my CT colleagues, love it or hate it, I cannot ever see this wine as "boring". I brought to CDC in Wilton Mannors. It was the WOTN for me and a WOTN for everyone else. I still like this producer and wish I had more.

November 9, 2021 - This was way better than I was expecting…nice light tannic structure, moderately juicy fruit, and a slightly funky and feral nose. I don’t know how it will age but this is a great early drinker while the Breton and Raffault sleep in the cellar.

August 12, 2021 - 2015 Philippe Alliet Chinon was supple in texture and had layered aromatics. The maturing breton was clear and medium ruby in colour with lots of fine sediments. It took an hour of aeration to open up. Aromas of strawberry, blackberry and liqourice were accompanied with hints of pencil shavings and fallen leaves. The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, balanced with medium-high level of acidity and rather low level of supple tannin. There were flavours of tart raspberry, farmyard and graphite in a medium earthy finish. The alcohol level was at 12.5%.

I suppose it was made for early consumption, with vibrant fresh red fruits, lively acidity and low level of tannin. While it had lost its youthful appeal, it gained light touches of earthiness and tertiary complexities. Some fellow drinkers on CellarTracker described it "boring". An hour of aeration would open up the wine.

September 2, 2020 - Initially it's got that strong reductive funk. That chills with air and reveals a classic and expressive nose. Apple skin, cassis, soil with touches of cured meat/bacon fat. The palate is lively showing great balance between fruit and acid. Great drive. Juicy. The fruit does fade a bit towards the finish probably due tot he ripeness of the vintage. This is a great place right now though. It won't stand up to SVD's from the region but for a appellation bottle under $20 it's a huge winner. It's developed quite well. Drink soon.

April 18, 2020 - Good / very good. Shows the ripeness of the vintage, round and fruit-forward and not particularly complex or even typical. I wouldn't discourage a purchase, but at $20 there are better options. Enjoyable enough, but not engaging.

May 21, 2019 - Dark, blood red; black fruit, clean, fresh; open, with an inner core, clean fruit; finishes well going through a quiet phase.
