November 5, 2023 - 14.5% alcohol. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 22 months in French oak. Decanted by a friend prior to his coming over for dinner.
The color was surprisingly youthful with a purple center and a violet rim with very little bricking. The nose had great intensity with blackberry and dark cherry being the primary fruit but added notes of earth, cedar, and mint after some extended air. The youthful palate carried ample dark fruit as well as vanilla, cedar, and earth to complete the package. This wine is clearly full-bodied with a plush mouthfeel as well as balanced acidity and rounded tannins on the solid finish. Overall, this wine seemed younger than its 21 years in the bottle and represented its Stags Leap District fruit well. It was a lovely pairing with flank steak and mushroom/bacon risotto and held its own with a 2012 Rudius Knockmore Cabernet Sauvignon.

March 2, 2015 - After reading all the negative notes here and seeing more recent reviews that are positive, I am led to believe the wine shut down for a period. Opened yesterday and was showing plenty of fruit and loads of life remaining. Great balance of acidity as well

October 31, 2013 - With Haugs. Very well balanced with tons of life, but might be my perfect drinking window. Excellent.
