Community Tasting Notes 25

  • Keith Levenberg Does not like this wine: 70 points

October 3, 2014 - First sniff of this is promising, as it's aged into compelling mature earthy scents. There is some overripe figginess in there as well but it seems to have a good chance of getting subsumed into the other stuff. Unfortunately this didn't really come together with air but instead turned very slick and saucy and I had to put it down for something else. I loved this the first time I had it years ago but it's starting to look like that first bottle was the aberration.

June 5, 2011 - The rating is a little higher than I would rate it normally, but this bottle was decanted for an hour before serving. Still, it was quite lively, not showing much signs of aging. Possessed great acidity and ripe fruit; everything seemed well-integrated, but would have liked it more popped and poured, I believe. Looking forward to re-visiting it in a year or so.

December 10, 2010 - VLG - Random Pinots Served Blind (Brea, CA): Served blind. Bright cherries, raspberries, and orange rind. Juicy palate. Seemed over acidified. Short on the finish. 87-88 points.

December 10, 2010 - VLG Does Pinot Blind ... No Parameters (The Home Office): Tasted Blind
The last time I had this wine in 2006 it was outstanding. I did think it would develop better. Still it is very young. There is a a lot of tartness going on. I enjoyed this but there was not the complexity or intrigue I would have like to find.

December 10, 2010 - VLG Does Pinots Blind (Jason Hagen's office): Served blind. Baked, cooked, stewed sweet fruits on the nose with some seaweed paper notes. Rich and juicy palate with strong length. An example of an overdone Cali Pinot.
