November 20, 2021 - JK's 50th Birthday: 1429/3301. Superb aromatics so different from the range of DRC on the side. Reductive, metallic, purple fruit. Chewy, great potential. 95+

June 6, 2018 - With Acker and Louis-Michel. Intensely piercing nose showing its massive power and ripeness. Extremely closed and hardly anything to discern except ripe red/black fruit. Incredible density and power without heaviness. Complex spices but all locked up in a massive ripe frame. I think JG is rating what this wine might be like in 20+ years but it is certainly not easy to drink but certainly admirable and a testament to the 2015 ripeness and power that is at the same time elegant and not over the top or over alcoholic. 93 now but I really wouldn’t bother opening this for 20 years! See my note on the 2006 La Romanee which is still tannic, tight, closed and far from pleasurable.

June 4, 2018 - Liger-Belair Dinner (Hong Kong): Major reduction right now, takes a lot of swirling to get past. Black berry perfume begins to come out in a bigger way along with stemmy florals. You can see how this will soon provide that very accessible and immediate pleasure that the ‘10 delivered last week, but this is just too young for me to tell much about right now.
