July 17, 2022 - Very complex and long, and needs time to open up. Grapefruit pith, preserves lemons and herbs on the palate. Quite substantial and definitely better with food.

May 12, 2022 - Wednesday night wine night (Phoenix Palace London): Started out a bit advanced and just fell to pieces. Terribly poxed - real shame as there seemed to be some lovely fruit underneath.

  • Shloly Likes this wine: 93 points

April 13, 2022 - The wine is clear, with pale lemon-gold color, and thick legs.
On the nose, the wine is clean, with medium plus aromas of white fruits, lemon zest, hints of unripe tropical fruits, unripe mango, hints of freshness and minerals.
On the palate the wine is dry, with medium plus acidity, medium plus alcohol, medium body, medium plus flavors of lemon zest, lemon tart, white flowers, hints of tropical fruits, vanilla, and white spices.
The wine is of a very good quality, due to its complexity and depth, a wide and big wide wine that can benefits from further aging.

April 13, 2022 - Tasting Ground official tasting, 2014 Eben Sadie part 1 - The Whites (Oinoscent): Grapes : Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche , Viognier, Verdelho, Roussanne, Marsanne, Semillon Gris, Semillon Blanc and Palomino, Colombard
Vineyards: Paardeberg Granite (13 vineyards), Sandstone (4 vineyards).
Vinification : Hand sorting of individual berries for the entire production in small “strawberry” cases. The grapes are pressed in a traditional basket press and the juice run off directly to clay amphoras, concrete eggs and some old oak foudres.
Ageing : The Palladius matures for 24 months in these vessels. Fermentation is spontaneous, and no additives are used. The wine finishes fermenting in its own time - in some cases this may take up to 20 months. After two years the wine is bottled unrefined and unfiltered. The final blend is only made up days before bottling.
    -//-
The wine seems the most evolved (or forced evolved) of them all, overripe fruit, lemon, citrus, melon, cooked pear and apple, cinnamon, pastry, vanilla scent, a hint of musty note (that blows off after some time)
Palate showing the same profile, the fruit is again overripe to almost tinned notes, mineral, high acidity, nutty, almond, a touch of reduction, alcohol heat (14.50%) for more than the others, medium to long finish
There is a certain "european decadence" in all vintages of Palladius I've ever tried (young and old)

    December 15, 2019 - SAQ N° 13098449 88$
Assemblage de Chenin blanc, grenache blanc, clairette, viognier.
    Bouquet très discret. Lime. Amandes.
Bouche fraiche mais peu expressive. Mince un peu.
