Community Tasting Notes 10

December 23, 2022 - Only mid weight. Expressive aromatics of complex sour cherries and some earth. Good intensity of fruit on the palate. I didn't get the leafy notes I did in July. Brisk acid. Very well mannered tannins - fine and without any rusticity. Really good length. Even better after 30 minutes. A complete Chianti in an understated style which lacks for nothing. Will hold but fully ready now.

August 9, 2022 - Seemingly the underdog in this lineup of 2013s, this showed really well. Super elegant red fruits, florals, and earth. Balanced acidity but probably the roundest of the three 2013s. Per dollar, this did extremely well. Ready to drink, but should hold steady for years.

July 31, 2021 - The very old vines are in this cuvee and I think it shows. Layers of sour cherry and leafy flavor. Juicy and ripe enough. The old vines give depth. Everything in place. Lovely balance in its structural elements. Probably a good time to be drinking this at 8 years out but it will hold much longer if desired. Classy artisanal Chianti from fine terroir. Good enough to merit actual discussion at table, which is rare for a Chianti chez nous. As good a wine as the label is an artistic curiosity - I have had people ask "is that a horse or a naked woman" ? I wish i had more of this. Lovely.

December 27, 2020 - First time trying the Riserva. Color is a translucent red. A very elegant, red-fruited Chianti that is well worth the price difference from the CC. I would have liked to have seen a bit more depth, but I am nitpicking. This is a lovely Chianti in my favored style.

July 27, 2020 - Hilarious label. Needed some airtime to blow off some overly stewed fruit, but eventually came together with some classic tart cherry acidity and some more structure. Bottle may have been improperly stored (WineBid), so hard to tell if this is representative of age, but if it is, drink up.
