December 19, 2020 - Good, but not worth the price of admission. Better on day 2, but nothing that exciting to make me seek out again. Picked up for $100 on a bin sale from Benchmark, but wouldn't pay more than $75 for it.

March 12, 2019 - This was a little all over the place. Fine grained sweet tannins. Some middle to dark fruits, apricots sweetness, spice. Clipped finish. Lacked the definition and depth I’d expect at its price point and winemaker.

June 22, 2018 - Seventh of the blind wines this evening, a few ringers amongst the three Celia Welch wines we were trying tonight.

Dark purplish ruby red. Even with six hours decanting this is still a little tight with notes of cinnamon, a light touch of caramel, vanilla, anise and blackberries. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Rounded and rich on the palate with layered spices, cassis, black currants and tobacco. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2036.

June 22, 2018 - Nose muted and light with the PnP but opened after 6 hours decanting.

Body is integrated and velvety and light red and blue fruits come through in the finish together with some light sandy velvet finish. Moderately long finish. Beautifully integrated.

The M'Etain has a better nose and similar body but heavier and darker. (both are Celia Welsh)

January 20, 2017 - This is just so easy to drink. For such a young wine it is surprisingly tame with very little tannin or heat. Dark fruits, extracted, silky and smooth. Celia Welch is a top notch winemaker most notably from Scarecrow, kelly Fleming, Keever and Corra. I find this in a similar style. It is a bit presumptuous or just a sign of the times in Napa that a debut wine can sell for $150+ per bottle. It's good but for that money I'll drink Carter all day.

October 22, 2016 - Still young, yet excellent fruit flavor and very well balanced. Debut vintage, but can't miss with collaboration of Kerrin Laz and winemaker Celia Welch.
