March 31, 2024 - This small grower is located in the Cote des Blancs and has been around since 1894. 95% Chardonnay and 5% of Pinot Noir from the first pressing. 5.65g/l dosage. Medium yellow color. Lower bead. Notes of apricot and tea. I think this bottle was a little off and hope my other 3 are better. Flat finish. 82 points.

May 27, 2021 - 95% Chard, 5% Pinot. Lots of lees aging with the idea of showing mature pure champagne. And apparently can age ever further still. 5 years of aging on it. Darn that is really good.

June 4, 2020 - A little lactic and possibly some botrytis on the nose (which I perceive as an aroma of fresh sweet corn, but it’s very mild) when I popped it. Palate showed somewhat austere with high though not off-balanced acidity, likely due to it being non-malo. Aromas of walnut shells, lemon pith, and a touch of lees. Very long, lingering finish. The bottle’s glass is stamped L12.10.16, so my guess is it was bottled in 2016. It seems mature and ready to go.

Oddly enough, despite it being quite dry, it paired fantastically with homemade marshmallows (an Alton Brown recipe). I think the clean saltiness of the wine offset the vanilla.

Night two: rounded out on the palate. Less austere and still salty and savory. I’m quite enjoying this, especially for the price! Reminds me of Bereche in style though without the oxidative note.

(PS: those marshmallows are even better frozen. Seriously.)
