February 9, 2023 - Opened and slow ox'd for an hour and a half. . Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate is dark cherry, red plums and spice. The finish is long and lingering. I should have decanted it for a few hours.
September 18, 2021 - Opened and slow ox'd for an hour and then decanted. Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate is dark cherry and spice. The finish is long and lingering. I should have decanted it for a few hours.
January 4, 2021 - Big, complex, rich wine. it should improve over the next 3-5 years imo
December 7, 2018 - Moderate sediment, so take care on the pour/decant. A flavorful, though restrained Pinot Noir. Definitely no California fruit bomb. Deeper, darker color fruit flavors on the nose and palate.
October 22, 2017 - One of my favorite pinots, leaning towards the austere side, not a fruit bomb by any means.
July 1, 2017 - Consistent notes across all of Hobb's pinots. A little on the steely side, but very fresh fruit flavors. Not a heavy pinot, by any stretch. I like it, but somewhat overpriced.
January 16, 2017 - Winter in Wineland; 1/14/2017-1/20/2017 (Sonoma & Napa): Herbal and licorice and great spice characteristics. Get some tobacco as well. Maybe even tar. There's a very savory side to the wine, but also just a hint of sweetness over the top. Enjoyable. Prob preferred to the Hyde served alongside.
November 24, 2016 - Tasted on a food pairing visit to Paul Hobbs the day before Thanksgiving (paired with morel mushroom paste on crustini bread)... Just a beautiful Pinot with fresh cut flowers and strawberries on the nose. red fruits and berries on the palate with a long finish. I'd give this a year or so to further integrate but it is drinking great today for those who can't wait!
