Community Tasting Notes 3

March 2, 2024 - This this is so good: really very full and earthy and leathery but with black fruits and cherries shining through, too. A really great savoury feel: olives and dust; feels so Spanish. Needed a bit of a stand and a decent decant as a decent amount of sediment here.

A blend of Garnacha and Carinyena (Carignan), or at least that’s what our bottle thinks it was…

July 10, 2020 - CLear, dark ruby red, with pink rim and orange hue, and hundreds of slow-moving tears.
Clean, med intnensity, aromas of pomegranate, cranberries, rhubarb, candied fruits, pine bark, and a lovely waft of fresh leather. This needs at least a good hour to get everything.
Dry, med body, med+ alcohol, med acidity, med tannins, with further tastes of raspberries, redcurrant, strawberries, but stronger overtones of salinity like kalamata olives and anchovies, coarse black pepper. Gorgeous finish and more austere than other Martinets. I am told this representative of historic Priorat wines before Grenache started to dominate (this is 100% Carignan)

August 18, 2019 - Coravin sample. Opulent young dark fruit. Reminds me of RWT. Structure and depth, rather big and full bodied. Alcohol shines through on the mid and on the finish, but not too disturbing. Despite that there is a very good balance and if you like big, dense wines that still maintains elegance this is it! Give it 5-10 more years in the cellar and you'll have a lot more interesting wine. All components for a long life is there.
