November 22, 2020 - Still drinking beautiful, aged plum fruitcake. No fading, went great with duck breasts and some nice Camembert. That was a good purchase!

November 12, 2020 - Medium to deep garnet, not showing age.
Very rich, ripe nose, almost port like. Dried fruits, figs, nuts, black fruit liqueur.
Full body, sweet and ripe , black fruit. Silky, soft with no tannins left. Alcohol very reasonable at below 14%. Very long and sweet aftertaste. Ready to drink but Still young with many years left.
    Excellent.
    Try again in 3yrs.

May 19, 2020 - I had a bottle of this in 2018 and thought it was tired and overrated and scored it an 89. But this bottle was fantastic. I don’t know if the other was a bad bottle (bottle variation is apparently an issue with this wine) or if it was just a bad night, but this bottle was perfectly mature, velvety and mid-weight with lovely secondary flavors after a few minutes and maybe a touch of sweetness on the finish. LOTS of sediment - must be decanted carefully or you’ll have a glass full of sludge. But enjoy!

April 5, 2020 - Drinking perfect right now...raspberry notes with a rich raisin and leather finish

(Le Vieux Donjon) Just a classic CDP. Should be in the dictionary under Chateauneuf. Wild nose of garrigue, ripe cherry fruit, animal, leather and just plain old unidentifiable sauvage. Palate was juicy and bordering on port-like but held in check by acidity. Long finish with just a touch of warmth. But then that warmth is what classicaly styled CDP is all about. Great stuff.

(Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Short ribs, beets and beef gravy nose; tasty, beefy, meaty mid-palate, with resolved tannins and a medium finish 95+ pts.
