Community Tasting Notes 10

March 19, 2023 - Nice aroma, dark berries and cherries, some earth tones. Drinking much better now that has developed a nice complexity. A few more years to enjoy.

February 12, 2021 - Opened via Coravin. Dark cherries + raspberry on the nose right away .
Later on graphite and cigar box. Complex with new flavors developing with every new sniff and sip. Still got years of life in it. Very fine, smooth and silky pinot but has a lot of power. No big feel of alcohol and goes great with wide variety of food.

November 20, 2020 - Raspberry and dark cherry, swirled with clove and cinnamon spice. Always enjoyable this is a purely new world pinot

January 14, 2020 - Alcohol is balanced in the nose with a forest floor and fruit. Still somewhat closed at first but very nice.

Nice dark red without being black or opaque. Plenty of glycerin legs that will have a nice body to it.

Graphite and dark cherries in the with some of the normal hit on the back of the tongue I've come to expect from Donum. Excellent fruit without being a fruit bomb but still richer than a burgundy and definitely a California pinot. Very rich mouthfeel without being jammy or cloying like a Syrah.

Donum continues to be one of my favorites and time will tell if the new owners will maintain the quality and style....I really hope so.

Alas, my last bottle of this particular one though. I reviewed my notes from two years ago and it's remarkably similar though maybe a touch softer on tannins. Wish I had more, I think it's got a good bit of life in it. Not a West Slope but still amazingly good for an appellation bottling.
