July 4, 2023 - Jammy and high alcohol...probably at peak...fits within the Herman Story house style

May 14, 2023 - Last bottle, and I'm thinking I timed it just right. Decanted 2h before drinking and the glass I initially poured was already tasting plummy and oxidized. It is in perfect window right now. If you got one, drink it.

November 21, 2022 - It's been a couple years since I had my annual tasting of this wine. It's still a big brash bruiser, but the tannins have nearly integrated and the wine is more coherent.
Still squid ink dark in the glass, and I can start to see the slightest shift towards earth tone from the deep purple.
Nose still has the punch as before with incredibly prominent black cherry, plum, and blackberry. Is that cranberry? Anise and slight whiff of menthol, maybe eucalyptus. Such an interesting fruit forward nose, but not a lot of terroir.
Still decent acid on the palate, and enough tannins to stretch a few more years. A bit of green pepper and coffee but not much else on the finish. This one is a bit of a reverse mullet wine: party up front and subtle wimper on the back.
At the end of the day, a very fun wine - but not elegant in the slightest.

July 9, 2022 - Decanted 1 hr. Drank over 2 days. Day 2 was a bit tastier than day 1. Day 1 started with tastes of red fruits, evolving to darker fruits. Day 2 tastes were mostly darker fruits. Dark fruit nose. Well balanced blend.

December 25, 2021 - Drank on Christmas day in GA.
Same as previous notes - very thick, rich, indulgent wine.
    Excellent.
