NOSE: carbonic; red-fruited; cinnamon (strong on Day 1; light on Day 3); hint of wet stones.

BODY: black-garnet color of medium to medium-deep depth; medium bodied.

TASTE: watermelon/cherry Jolly Rancher; black raspberry; adequate acidity; no tannin; not funky; not big/thick/dark/earthy/bitter, but still bigger than typical D&R; 12.9% alc. not noticeable. Drink now and over the near term.

September 13, 2021 - My first D&R wine. And probably my last. Light-to-medium body. Very faint red fruit. The remaining elements (including the mouthfeel) were reminiscent of a bottle of old bdx that did not survive the journey. Not in any way recognizable as Mourvedre of the Bandol or even of the Calif versions that I like a lot (e.g., Terre Rouge). Not good QPR for about $50, IMO.

October 4, 2020 - 45 mins in decanter. leathery and dark. Stains the palate, yet its lighter in body and doesn't leave weight on the palate. There is a xmas spice element. There's an umami note, it's savory and rich. Tannins are fine and integrated. Drinking well.

September 23, 2020 - Awesome wine served out of a magnum at the Rack. Everyone enjoyed, WOTN... especially good w pork chop and rib eye. Funky yet delicious.

September 7, 2020 - Fresh, lifted. Nose and palate are red fruited: raspberry, a bit of strawberry, hard candy, but with time on the glass some of the darker, blackberry notes come out too. The most intriguing component is savory: a rich licorice, especially on the nose, and especially on pour. The finish is marked by baking spices: cinnamon and clove. The tannins are fine, and impart a bit of black tea on the finish. It's a lighter bodied wine, but fills out very nicely in the glass, elegant and fresh. Delicious and somehow refreshing too. Drinking very well now, but I think this will age very nicely.

April 27, 2020 - Greatly enjoyed, still light+, part of why I love D&R Mourvèdre. Primary as well as some secondary notes starting to shine through. Agree with GRAFSTRB on the nose: tart, loads of cinnamon, red fruits (raspberry, cherry), watermelon. Taste rocks, cedar, spices, and pepper. Color noticeably more garnet than the younger Antle/Rodnick wines but similar (albeit lighter?) to 2014 DRE (Dirty, Rowdy and Enfield) Mourvèdre/Pinot Noir blend. Overall, somewhere in between a young Antle/Rodnick and, surprisingly, a 30 year old Bordeaux (definitely more fruit though); shockingly closer to the Bordeaux than I would have expected. Let me caveat, limited experience with Mourvèdre with some age on them. Used Coravin. On 2nd night, glass with less air better than glass with 100 minutes of air. Definitely has life ahead of it but in a great place. 12.9% alcohol, which is always appreciated. So good.

    February 25, 2020 - -- decanted 45 minutes before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 3 hours on Day 1; revisited on Day 3 --

NOSE: high-toned; tart, red fruits; hint of cinnamon; medium+ expressiveness; watermelon Jolly Rancher; cherry.

BODY: garnet-violet color of medium depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: "fresh"; red-fruited; 12.9% alc. not noticeable; light to medium-light concentration of flavor; not funky or tannic; tasty, but more light/thin than I'd prefer; not much of a mid-palate presence or finish. This did fill-out a little bit on Day 3, but not enough to markedly change my opinion. Drink now and over the near term.

    50, 5, 12, 15, 7 = 89

November 20, 2019 - As typical, D&R loves air, hitting its stride on night two.
