    July 19, 2019 - This has evolved relative to 12/2016 when I tasted good potential but yet only limited complexity. At present, it drinks very well (with a brief decanting) but is likely to improve further with some extra years, not at its peak. It kept evolving over several hours of decanting with great energy and acidity, and notes of prunes, indian spices, earthy minerals, and dark juicy fruit. I wish I had more bottles, to follow closely over the next 5+ years.

    December 12, 2018 - Brought to the Zatzman's to share as their dinner guests. Dark in color for Sangiovese - a semi-opaque magenta, right up to the edge. Pretty scents of crushed dark berries, Tuscan earth and spice fill the glass. Medium-to-full bodied, offering a tangy mouthful of bing cherry and blackberry fruit backed by a lively, yet pleasant acidity. Shows wonderful depth and focus, but still seemed a bit restrained. Finishes long and fresh, with plenty of juicy, delicious fruit, hints of spice, tar and mineral, along with grippy, mouth-puckering tannins. There is a lot of structure to this beauty. Can't wait to re-visit in another couple of years, once it has loosened up completely and softened a bit. 92++

    October 15, 2018 - What a joyful little bottle of darkness. This wine is nearly opaque, and generously aromatic. Worked better in a zalto burgundy stem than a riedel cab. The nose is really special - cardamom, hint of anise, wet slate, and dark fruit. Blind, the nose puts me in priorat, but the palate presence with bright juicy acidity and stern tannins tether us in Italy. Still a long time left for tannic resolution but all the other component parts are fairly harmonious.
