January 3, 2024 - I enjoyed, but it probably needs to sit for another couple of years. The missus wanted to put it in the blender the first night. The second some of the tannins blew off and there seems to be really nice fruit and structure that could come together very nicely - don't know how to predict that.

August 14, 2023 - Pours medium garnet and the nose is mature and complex: forest floor, cracked leaves, leather, herbs/eucalyptus, dried cherries. The palate shows high acidity and great energy. The tannins have melted away. A fully realized expression this Tuscan beauty. Drink now or hold for 4-5 years.

August 5, 2023 - I decanted and I strained my bottle twice and I still couldn't get all the sediment out. The 2010 I Sodi di S. Niccolo is overrated and overpriced. Thirteen years old and it is still a tannin bomb. Blending Malvasia Nera in didn't help either. A thoroughly unenjoyable experience. Is it worth $85 a bottle? Heck no!

January 10, 2023 - This is what I love about IGT Italian wines. Visited Castellare in 2002 & fell in love with ISDSN! This wine is full bodied, leaning towards the heavier black fruit profile, but there is nice acidity that gives balance. The nose was very floral & intoxicating. Decanted 60 minutes & in a good place.

December 3, 2022 - Sangiovese blend of Castellare: cherry, prune, tobacco, cedar, leather, savory, medium body, nice acidic long aftertaste
