November 19, 2013 - 100% Gaglioppo. Zero madeira.

March 7, 2012 - I kinda always want to hate it because I buy to much of it but then I love it anyway. The salt, tart cherry, wildness of it all.

November 21, 2011 - Consistent w/prior bottle. Perhaps a bit richer, darker fruit showing. Substantial body. Fresh acidity. Drinks like a more expensive bottle.

October 15, 2011 - Subtle but interesting aromas of cured meat, raspberry and blackberry. The flavors are rustic, medium-bodied, with cherry, raspberry, stone, and a hint of red licorice. Good acidity and light tannins.

August 27, 2011 - A rather peculiar variety this Gaglioppo grape.
A Pinot Noir-ish colour with a funky cheese, cured meat and earthy kind of nose.
Quite delectable on the palate with the perfect acidity asking for some enjoyable food.
    4 stars.

July 23, 2011 - Light colour, pleasant nose with cherries, strawberries and earth kind of elements. The taste is very delicous and balanced with semi long finish with perfect tannins and acidity. This is a very good wine made of rare Gaglioppo at reasonable price. I will buy more for sure.

January 30, 2011 - A unique wine in many ways in which the unusual grape (Gaglioppo) has been mastered in a very good way

Opened 1h in advance and used an aerator for the pouring.

Color: Dark Ruby red, quite dense
Nose: Opens up with mature cherries (not over mature) and lingonberries immediately followed by more spicy notes dominate by black pepper, tobacco and, with time in the glas, wet leather. Quite powerful.
Mouth: Good acidity, firm tannins but not aggressive, quite round and well balanced - medium finish.

As always a great qpr for this wine, enetring it's ideal drinking window which is not very long... and in this years it can give great satisfactions if carefully matched with food.
