March 30, 2024 - Dominated by tannins and oak. Some dark cherry and nuance on finish, but I can’t get past the too strong tannins and vanilla from the oak. I typically enjoy Silver Oak. This bottle is a bit disappointing.

February 18, 2024 - Tasted over two nights. First - violet, currant color. Scents of cedar, mint, & a little dark plum. Plum in the flavor supported by cherry & chocolate. Finish of mostly cranberry. Second - Vanilla is added to the nose. Spiced plum is more forward in the flavor, much more on the front of the tongue. Plum & quince notes in the finish.

January 21, 2024 - Opened for 1 hr and initial tastes revealed a tart cherry with some muted leather and a good dose of tannins. Opened slightly in the next couple of hours of consuming.
Not the best Silver Oak I have drank and somewhat of a disappointment.

November 18, 2023 - A little disappointed. This wine isn’t holding up as well as I’d hoped. Nice floral approach but it doesn’t translate on the initial taste. Yes some leather, dirt and peppers remain but the finish is accentuated by an aftertaste of alcohol.

November 10, 2023 - Plum Market wine tasting. Similar thoughts as a couple years ago. Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, dark cherry, and some plum. Smooth mid-palate but a lighter profile than expected - medium body. Soft/somewhat subtle flavors of cassis, some spice, and a little graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. I’ve never been impressed by this producer - their wines tend to come off light and not a whole lot of character especially for the money in my opinion. No surprise of the 90 rating from WS. 95% cab sauvignon, 2% merlot, 2% cab franc, and 1% malbec.

August 25, 2023 - Really solid cab. Drinkable, smooth. Needs some time to open up. A little thin for a cab and the finish is a bit more tanic than Id prefer. But good overall.

August 18, 2023 - This 10 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley is drinking wonderfully now.

Full bodied and elegant with nice complexity, and a great nose.

Dry on the palate with medium acidity.

Showing plums, cherries, currants, figs, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, light bell pepper and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Poped right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Gets earthier as it opens up.

Shows lots of fruits, with plenty of earth notes.

Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

Beautiful nose with more complexity than the palate. Loved it.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and good with food too.

A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec.

    13.9% alcohol by volume.

    93 points.

    $100.

June 25, 2023 - Deep ruby in flavor with a hint of brown. Nose of deep black cherry, dark fruits, smoke, and cigar box. Second nose of raspberry, cranberry, and oak. Extremely smooth. Tannins and oak have mellowed almost completely. Slightly dry finish.

June 18, 2023 - Decanted for 3 hours; bottle has been well aged with moderate sediment. Beautiful crimson color with great clarity. Typical blackberry, cherry and vanilla nose; similar on the palate with some black pepper and a bit of earthiness/mushroom. Finish was moderate and very pleasant. Tannins are still quite evident, even after the decant, I would expect it to hold up and continue to improve for quite a while. I did not get the over oaked taste or maybe just don't mind a little oak. Enjoy now or later; don't think you can go wrong at this point.
