November 18, 2020 - Another excellent bottle from this consistent property. Excellent bouquet and still plenty of fruit. By no means over the hill.
November 8, 2020 - Deep garnet colour with some bricking. Tasted against 1982 and 1996. Dark fruits, leather, earth. Good acidity, good tanin structure. Medium aftertaste.
October 24, 2020 - A nice example of a mature 2003. This is a substantial wine with no coarse tannin that seems to have handled the hot vintage conditions very well. It drank well on release and now seems more relaxed and unfurled, and well balanced. The fruit is sweet and the mouthfeel is pretty smooth and dense. With good storage this will probably last another 17 years. My only quibble, and it is a minor one, is that the oak, which was noticeable on release, imparts a slightly sour/dill note in the finish. But overall very enjoyable.
October 20, 2019 - Had no expectation for this wine! Was fantastic, wonderful nose of leather and cigar box, dark berries, cherry. Mouthfeel was showing very well integrated tanins, long and lingering, super good with roastec lamb. Last bottle unfortunately...
September 23, 2017 - Nice. We were happy that this 2003 and a bottle of 2002 Domaine Tempier Bandol held up so well over several moves in the past few years!
January 23, 2017 - Too sharp. Detracted from otherwise good flavor.
August 23, 2016 - Enjoyed this wine but there is some over ripeness here (2003 vintage here so that should be expected)...Modern style because of the hot vintage but it does not reflect the style of this Chateau in more classic vintages
March 26, 2016 - Note: I use a rating scale for which 85 represents a very good wine.
Out of a magnum. Let it breathe for about 1 hour before drinking. This made a big difference. Drank over 3-4 hours, did not change very much over the course of the bottle.
Very nice entry level Bordeaux. Tannins in check, decent fruit, very well-balanced. Fairly typical Bordeaux profile. Easy drinking.
I have another, and although I see no reason to drink it next week, I do not see much benefit from further aging.
