April 3, 2018 - So... opened (admittedly pop and pour) and enjoyed but thought.... this is just ok... put the cork in a 1/2 bottle and left it on the sideboard... 2 days later... this. Is brilliant! Nose is evocative showing red fruit and earth but also this amazing damp clay? nose and on the palate it's superb! Ripe(ish) but with amazing power and spice! This could stand up to a rib eye steak at this point! I'm glad I have one more left in the cellar - will try it in about 3 years...

March 8, 2016 - My last bottle of a case, and a beautiful long run it was. Last bottle showing like a champ with mature integration of all components. Good blue and black fruit, still healthy acidity and a lovely structure, length and finesse. This could have gone maybe even a couple of years longer. Wonderful stuff.

March 9, 2014 - Red core with large rose rim and significant color change; hard red cherry, cranberry, deep, lots of seed grain forest floor and nutty vegetation- not as bad as the usual meanie greenies; taut and firm on the palate but a certain elegance of say Volnay with more structure of an NSG, earthy, the acidity was a little sharp at first then came together with good focus, a bit of mint leaf; really satisfying and delicious.

March 13, 2012 - Bottle opened to find wine already creeping up to the halfway point of cork. Worrisome, as I have a case left, but perhaps just an anomaly. Color a lovely deep garnet fading to lighter ruby at edges. Swirled in a Burgindy glass, first smell is EARTH (yay!), then opening to a fragrant, deep, rich red fruit with accompanying floral, spice and almost a currant note. Just lovely. First sip shows the depth and power of fruit complemented by a sturdy spine of tannins and oak spice--not vanilla- just spicy and dry.The finish is lengthy. Lingers a full 45-60 sec with the spice resonating. Time will tame and blend this more seamlessly, I'm sure. Only small criticism is a little wooden hardness and a slight alcohol burn as it lingers. May be a non-issue if resolved with age. Nice wine, but no shrinking violet. I'd pair this with heavier fare, or game.
