  April 7, 2017 - Italian tasting for the Friday Group, at our house:
  
  Whites: 2014 Fonzone Fiano di Avellino, 2015 Depperu Dignu, 2015 Depperu Ruinas.
  
  The Fonzone Fiano was very light on its feet. Light gold color, almost clear. Dried figs on the nose, and some citrus. Smooth, light to medium bodied palate, with some pears joining the citrus and figs. Medium/long finish. 90
  
  Depperu Dignu, white wine from Nebbiolo grapes (supposedly the only one currently produced), was fascinating. Medium gold color. Bright nose with hints of strawberry, spice and some other red fruit. Rich, luscious palate, lots going on. Hard to describe – influenced by the fact that it was red grapes producing this interesting white wine. Long finish. 89
  
  Depperu Ruinas, a Vermentino, was slightly corked. Didn’t taste too bad, but very disappointing. We have had this wine, and it is usually transcendently wonderful.

  December 30, 2016 - Straw gold color. Very floral nose, with pears and a hint of citrus. Round, balanced palate. Long finish. No one picked it as a vermentino, but everyone liked it..
