May 4, 2019 - I am a guy who has one Grand Cru Burgundy before, so: Grain o' Salt.
Opened at 11 am and slow ox'ed until 5. Poured a splash - terrific, complex aromas in the glass and the taste was like all the separate ingredients in a recipe. So I decanted. And three hours later, when I poured it, my girlfriend asked if maybe it should taste like something. I thought this was a great teachable moment. "Honey, this is what 'shut down' means."
It was indeed a beautiful moment between us, and she is much further down the pathway of never wanting to open another Burgundy again, because she doesn't like fussbudgets.
Anyway, we left it in the decanter for another 4 hours, after which it started to open back up again. It's been open 12 hours and right now I'm just sniffing the nose and trying to figure out what it is that I'm smelling. The taste sort of echoes in your mouth, lasting perhaps a minute. It's really good but by no means ready, an amazing combination of elegant and intense. I've had some Gevrey 1er crus that were more sturdy and broad shouldered -- this one has more to say, but right now it needs a lot of translation.
To summarize: too FREAKING YOUNG if you're tempted to open this before 2024, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. The reason this is a Grand Cru are very obvious, but we are many years away from this being a pleasure to drink. You would still have to explain this wine rather than just enjoy it with a friend. But maintain those friendships and try this in 2024 +, maybe 2030 +.

April 6, 2019 - First GC. Still a baby but an incredibly elegant wine. Slo-ox for about 8.5 hours. Looking forward to our visit to the Domaine at the end of May.

June 2, 2017 - absolutely superb wine, powerful and pure. The purity of fruit is stunning, the length awesome and the complexity miraculous. Probably the best Mazis from this vintage, and amongst the very best reds of the year.
    Very highly recommended.

January 11, 2016 - Great nose, earthy, floral with generous notes of dark fruit and spices. On the palate quite expressive and pure with round and ripe tannins and great acidity. Especially the silky mouthfeel and the persistent, energetic finish made this one of the standout wines at this burgundy en primeur tasting for me. Extremely promising. 93-94+
