June 24, 2019 - Looks very primary and young, tightly coiled. Maybe a bit shut-down... Should have maybe been decanted. Decidedly dark-fruit character, bit of rustic feel to the papery, chalky tannins. Has some bandaid-y brett. Bit of a weird balsamic character in there too. The brett character sort of became a bit overwhelming after a while for me.

June 9, 2019 - Flowery and mineral and salty. On the nose. Beautiful clean cut mid palate. Surprisingly open.

October 27, 2018 - 2015 Northern Rhones Blind: Single blind. Along with the Chave, this was a simpleton clunker and a disappointment tonight. The nose is quite moderate with some savory elements and a bit of armpit funk. The palate is lighter and not showing any depth or layering. Nothing wrong with it, but just showing quite foursquare. I can only assume its a bit inward right now and needs years to show its stuff. Likely upside from here based on reputation.

Night 2 update: The nose is still rather reserved, but there is some smoke and game to be found. The palate is showing more oomph and depth. Still mostly fruit with modest complexity. Spending a little more time and focus on this glass, you can see the pedigree.

October 27, 2018 - Most of the 2015 Northern Rhones worth a damn, blind (Chicago, IL): Served single blind. Dark fruit, with a bit of a real rustic stink to it. Behind that slight bit of dirtiness is a nice amount of fruit, but it is some work to look for it. The palate is rustic and fairly coarse, and while again there's pleasant fruit, it's not obvious, and this tapers off on the back end with some acidity and sort of evaporates on the palate. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this, as it really ought to be better than it is. Time?

September 26, 2018 - Decanted 3 hrs. All primary fruit at present but near the end, one could sense some serious rumblings underneath. Very enjoyable but really not a good value play at $120 if opened today. Give it 5 to 10 and likely a whole different animal will emerge. Hold.
