December 8, 2017 - So RdV is the best that VA has to offer and unfortunately it's not great. For the price point go buy a Bordeaux or Napa wine. VA misses the mark on quality. Sure this is ok. But for the price point it lacks so much. There's fruit, some spice, but overall it never sings. The only RdV wines I've liked are the 2010's and unfortunately that was an atypical year for VA. That had more to do with luck than talent. Spend your money elsewhere. So much better wines for the same money.

December 4, 2017 - Dark fruit, blackberry, hints of tobacco, nice tannins. Peppery. This wine will get better with a few years of age. It’s not as good as the 2012 Lost Mountain, but still a very good left bank style blend.

May 21, 2017 - My first thought when I read the first two reviews of this vintage was that I was glad I was not a Master of Wine. Apparently they become so spoiled on super high-end wines that that really nice bottles like this are inferior to them. I'm very happy that I can drink and appreciate wines "for the rest of us." That's not a hit on Masters of Wine, though, as it's more a statement of my lack of experience with truly nice wines. I thought this was a fantastic wine with strong potential. We tasted it at the winery alongside three vintages of the Rendezvous, which were also a fantastic wines. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Merlot.

April 7, 2017 - A good Virginia blend. Has dark fruit and some leather, and minimal oak finish with silkiness on palate.

November 6, 2016 - big wine, firm backbone with well integrated tannins, excellent aromatics of red currants and graphite, long finish, built to age

October 24, 2016 - MW Institute 2013 American Cabernet Tasting, never tasted this Winery before, nose of dusty earth, red and black cherry fruit, and briar, more of the same on the palate, black cherry on the palate was a nice touch of fruit, medium body, short finish.

October 24, 2016 - Institute of Masters of Wine - 2013 Cabernet Walk-Around Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): It smells like poor-quality fruit - uneven ripeness, a bit dirty and weedy. In the mouth it’s short and thin, with low acid - overall impression is a bit flabby.
