November 10, 2018 - Near the end of its life. Pleasant enough. The fruit has receded a good deal. But still some interesting savor flavors.
January 6, 2017 - This was good the first half hour on opening, but quickly fell apart. Stewed prunes, with a bit of bitterness balanced slightly by some hints of bright fruits.
May 16, 2015 - Drank tonite with pasta. Dark purplish, ruby, brownish hue. Nose has a bit of a sherry scent, along with perhaps some nail polish. Lots of gritty tannins still, quite rustic & savory, black fruit, some coffee, leather & grilled meat. Tons of sediment in the bottle. On the old side for sure, but still an interesting pour with some enjoyable qualities.
January 11, 2015 - This bottle was the best of the lot yet. Decanted for 1+ hour.
October 11, 2014 - Mixed reviews -- some liked and some didn't. Major amount of sediment...the most I've ever seen from a 750 ml bottle.
November 1, 2011 - Wow! Still some tannic gripo (just right), superb depth, fruit, give last one time
March 1, 2011 - Red fruit, clay, black tea, earth, alomonds mushroom, fine tannic grip to finish, give time to others, plenty life left, better w/air, silky, mouthcoating, d2, superb
February 1, 2010 - Nice cherry, earth, tobacco, cassis on nose, this has shed tannins nicely, now w/soft velvety gripo, bit rustic but very nice overall
September 30, 2009 - This bottle showed a little bit of oxidation, though the wine was still pretty drinkable. Not sure if it was a bad bottle or the wine is just a little past its peak. In any case, there's no need to cellar any further, as the wine is not getting any better.
June 8, 2009 - This bottle was clear and still dark, but showing age on the palate. On previous times, the dark fruit was set off by a firm acidity. As it has softened it is losing definition.
Perhaps just bottle variation, but I think two points off the peak.
