February 8, 2024 - Quite tight upon opening. Early notes. Nose of graphite, cassis, leather, flowers, gravel. Dark, brooding. A bit of astringency. Perhaps needs much more time in air.

September 10, 2023 - This was absolutely outstanding with a pop and pour but then I poured the wine into a decanter and let it sit 3 hours for the party to begin. While still very good it seemed to lose its wow factor and become very similar to a lot of higher end Napa cabs. 96 on opening, 94 after a long decant.

May 14, 2023 - Followed the advice of others and just PnP. The wine absolutely sprang from the glass, though I would still recommend ~15 mins in the glass to let the wine fully open. Inky purple with magenta edge in color. Pungent nose of plums, kir, graphite and black licorice. There was remarkable intensity without the need for agitation. On the palate: plums, blackberries, five spice powder & granite. Exceptionally long finish of loam, berries, tanned leather and wood spice. Super-fine tannins are working in perfect harmony, subtly perceived on gums. Paired with board steak, mushroom rice and asparagus: it was absolute fireworks with the steak (popped a beam of pencil lead followed by licorice) and mushroom rice (red currants followed by loam), while managing not to fight with the asparagus one bit.
