    September 17, 2023 - 1 hr decant.
Clear, deep purple with medium meniscus and high viscosity
N/P. Black currant, bit of plum and blackberry, licorice, tar, smoky pepper and tobacco.
Still Med+ tannins. Long finish with med+ complexity.
No need to hold this longer unless you want the continued transition to tar. Probably would have preferred a few years earlier.

May 20, 2023 - Medium ruby. Nose not expressive. At first I thought there was a whiff of brett and cork, but that subsided. Still, not strong on the aromatics—some brambly herbal tones. Graphite. Hint of cherry pie. On the palate the tannins are resolved and the wine is silky in the mouth. It’s jammy, sappy, a bit chewy, 100% new world. Dark fruits on the finish are cloying and syrupy to me. A bit grippy and biting for me, but well made. I’m guessing it’s mellowed in the bottle and it’s in its drinking window. Still, a bit hot for my taste. Parker type fruit bomb wine for sure.

April 2, 2023 - Very good, but ultimately underwhelming as I sense that it isn't quite there yet. Very mineral-driven nose, plus violet, coal, and a mix of bright red fruits on the nose. Big and rambunctious in the mouth, so we decanted. It slowly gained weight and depth in the mouth, showcasing red and black fruit flavors that would've had us guess Cabernet rather than Syrah (plus graphite, damp earth, etc.). It finally began to resemble a Syrah after 6 hours, with spice, anise, and gamey, herbal (i.e., rosemary) notes emerging on the nose and in the mouth. Long finish, which only lengthened with air. Very good and pleasurable, but I'd bet it would benefit from a few more years of cellar time.

July 16, 2022 - My only Hiddens are the '13s. Big thumbs up. New world bold wine with intriguing dark purple fruits but pretty well integrated and not over the top/in your face alcohol or fruit.

May 17, 2022 - Lovely wine. Big bold wine with tannins. Great with Food. Roast salmon and vegetable last night. Chicken and pasta tonight. Tastes a bit like a very good Barolo Tasted even better second day
