April 21, 2019 - Nice Barolo, esp for price. Slight spice & tobacco. Evolved over dinner.

November 16, 2018 - Totally closed at opening. Don't like it. After an hour or so it starts to open up. Firstly rose hip. Liqourice, oak. Underneath it all is some sweet berry. Strawberry? Air cleanser. Around 80 to start with. 88 when we drink the last glass. Tomorrow it might be higher, we will never now.

June 7, 2018 - Aged for 2 years in used French barriques and 1 year in bottle. 14% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar, 5,5 g/l acidity.

Translucent dark cherry colro with a subtly maroon-ish hue. Ripe and sweet-toned nose with aromas of juicy black cherries, soome mushroomy tones, a little bit of sun-baked asphalt, a hint of tar and a touch of dusty earth. The wine is full-bodied, somewhat warm and quite ripe on the palate with flavors of sour cherries, sanguine streak of blood, some savory wood spice and a hint of wild strawberries. Balanced structure with moderately high acidity and somewhat grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is moderately grippy and somewhat warm with medium-long flavors of juicy and slightly sweet red fruits, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of savory and spicy old ood and a sanguine hint of iron.

A nice and reliable Barolo with training wheels. Offers varietally pure expression of Nebbiolo with firm structure and no obfuscating wood character, but very little beyond that. This is an enjoyable and harmless effort that is recognizable as a Barolo and pleasant to drink, but doesn't have any of the impact of a well-made Nebbiolo - drinks more like a big, ripe and well-structured Langhe Nebbiolo than like a true, classic Barolo. At 27,98€ this is a textbook example of "you get what you pay for".

February 17, 2018 - Aged for 2 years in used French barriques and 1 year in bottle. 14% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar, 5,5 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.

Translucent, somewhat developed cherry red color with a maroon hue. The wine really doesn't smell of anything. No matter how I try, I just can't get anything out from the glass. The taste is more or less the same, just vague flavors of wizened red fruits and nothing else. The wine is high in acidity with ridiculously grippy, aggressive tannins.

The wine seems to be an off bottle, being almost completely mute. Perhaps a very mild case of TCA? The majority of judges decided that the wine was OK, so I went ahead and scored it 80. However, I'm fairly sure that the wine wasn't performing as it should, so marking it as flawed here. Hard to say whether the wine was worth the 26,30€ or not.

July 6, 2017 - Consistent with prior note. Combining solid backbone and light body, nice lavender perfume and salivating smokiness with a touch of spiced pepperoni, all in a very affordable barolo. Big tannins may add flavor and depth with time. 91-93
