June 13, 2021 - Fruit forward, toke three days to open up and get nice acidity and fruit to complement each other. Tonight it is drinking really nice (3rd or 4th night).
March 20, 2021 - Robe de couleur cerise noire, d’une opacité étonnante. Bouquet superbe où flirtent la myrtille, l’olive noire et la menthe. En bouche c’est dense et généreux, avec une souplesse remarquable et des tannins bien fondus; fruits, menthe, cacao et espresso font tresse, le boisage demeurant sagement à l’arrière plan. Un très beau vin de garde, à petit prix.
March 8, 2021 - From magnum. Dark ruby-garnet core; opaque. Plum, licorice and oak on the nose — very fruit-forward and primary. Full-bodied and essentially dry, with balanced acidity and plenty of soft tannins, not fully resolved (there was some sediment in the bottle, but not a whole lot). Blueberry, plum, dark chocolate, espresso and something distinctly umami (soy?) on the palate. Lush and opulent, with more than enough fruit to stand up to the oak. Drinking well, and seems to have plenty of life left.
January 29, 2021 - Nose is hard to detect coming out of the cellar, but opens with boysenberry compote as it comes to ambient in the decanter. Best to screen this as lots of sediment. Not a shred of meniscus fade which is amazing considering this is closer to 17 years old. The tannin's are in check but the fruit just explodes on the mid and finish. Just goes on. Such a treat.
January 8, 2021 - Beautiful wine, Hides it’s Age extremely well. Still primary fruit driven. Easily another decade in it.
August 16, 2020 - Stunning wine. Especially after some time in the dacanter. Will revisit in 2025 easy.
July 29, 2020 - For a 16 years old wine, the colour is still very dark, dense and showing no sign of aging at all. The bouquet is refine, restrained yet complex and poised. Gentle plums, blackberries and toasted spices with dark chocolate and leather mingled harmoniously on the nose. The plate is a touch sweet, showing purity of ripe black fruits like blackcurrant and black raspberries, the black pepper underneath the fruit provided a layer of kick form entry to finish. Rich and fresh at the same time. Good tensions. Medium to full bodied structure. Still going strong on the palate with a deep finish after an hour in the glass. The length and depth are it’s strengths. This will continue to drink well for another decade.
June 3, 2020 - Much less appealing than my last bottle.
Slight browning on rim, despite screw cap. Red acidity, fruit holding well, but this bottle definitely on the downswing
September 16, 2019 - Fresh and bright from under screwcap, with a slight over-fill
Blackcurrant and eucalyptus, lovely acidity, still has several years life left
January 10, 2019 - Not a whole lot happening on the nose, but it is in a lovely place and drinking quite beautifully.
