February 18, 2023 - Exactly what we expected- rich, unapologetic, delicious. Compared to a 2018 Blue Eyed Boy, this was both a little more expressive and a little more "complex", although also was a little less "balanced" for the style, with more aggressive heat poking out. Blackened nose with baked plum and toast, plus some slight earthy tones, kind of between cedar/dill (American oak?) and that Cabernet cigar thing. Very rich and warming on the palate, with enough fruit to feel deliberate. I've haven't been "blown away" by a Mollydooker wine yet, but I've enjoyed all the ones I've tried (hoping to check out Carnival of Love soon.)

August 13, 2021 - A bit rough around the edges. Initially after opening the attack is mainly blueberry and dark cherry. After it open ups, the attack turns more spicy, and it continues through the finish, which is also savory . The tannings were firm and lasting.

July 31, 2021 - Multi hour decant, the nose is rich with currant and other dark fruit. The palate is potent, with big body built around velvety tannins and more current and blackberry. The acidity lends a pleasant tartness to the experience. A big mouthfeel with a long finish.

March 24, 2019 - blackfruit and mint on the nose, gorgeous big fruit on the palate. This has distinctive cabernet menthol and mint, but it's wrapped in an attypical fruit forward package that isn't over-sweet. It's 16.5% alc, only 2.2g/l residual sugar (vs Alaya Tierra 6.4g/l, Yellowtail 12g/l, Rombauer Zin 27g/l, Jam Jar Shiraz 64g/l, Coca Cola 108g/l). It tastes like someone took a vineyard full of cabernet grapes and made a big Australian Shiraz from them. I think its delicious but others may disagreee.

August 10, 2018 - Deep red color, good berry fruit nose. Nice Cabernet taste, tannin not excessive. Overall, very pleasant.

May 11, 2018 - The nose was rich, with depths of dark red berries, cassis, blackberry, currant, sweet spices, and dark chocolate. On the palate, I found velvety textures with ripe cherry, blueberry and currants, followed by sweet herbal tones and tobacco, yet with all of it’s ripe fruit and richness, a balancing wave of acidity maintained liveliness. The finish was long and zesty yet hinted at heat.

February 15, 2018 - I'm rating the 2016 just released... a big bold mouthful of Aussie Cab. It's crying for more time to age and smooth out. Right now it's in your face prunes and cherries. I think it will be terrific in three years. I'm gonna buy some and lay it down.

October 1, 2017 - Notes are from the second day of drinking the bottle after the original "Mollydooker shake." Deep purple in color. Big prominent nose of carnations, roses, blackberries and black cherry. Taste is very similar and ultra smooth. Low tannins but pretty good acidity makes this heavily extracted flavorful wine work. I sometimes forget just how good and flavorful these wines are for the money! Great QPR at about $45.

September 1, 2017 - The best Gigglepot I've had and one of Australia's most sheerly pleasurable cabernets. Without the tannic backbone of the great Cali Cabs but otherwise just awesome new world juicy fruity but distinctly cab, modern cab. Super drinkable.
