February 10, 2019 - Still garnet and mostly opaque, with sediment and some browning of the edges. Still has sweet, elegant cassis aroma with herbal overtones. Cassis flavors are soft and round but slightly sour note. Medium aftertaste. Still an excellent wine but past its prime. Drink up.

January 27, 2019 - Despite my own advice to wait 1-2 years, opened my last bottle with a Tomahawk steak at home as I thought the tannins would come handy - and they did. 1h slow ox, then poured into decanter and drank over 90 minutes. Very Bordeaux in style, dry with good acidity and those remaining tannins even at the 25 year mark. This is really, really good with a steak now. Don’t think it will improve however, as it lacks the concentration for a score in the mid 90s or higher. Excellent just like my last bottle 93-94. Hope their 2007 will evolve into something similar in time.

December 7, 2018 - Happy to report back that my last note on this wine (Jan 2018) must have been a flawed bottle. Outstanding cork with only the very tip tainted, but the fact that it came out very easily made me a bit worried - for no reason. Garnet color with transparent rim. Drank a glass after pnp and then poured into decanter As this is still showing medium tannins. Drank over the following two hours. On the nose forest floor and deep dark fruit, very concentrated on the palate but also very dry, none of the sweetness I often get in Napa, slightly leafy notes, medium tannins, medium length.
Blind, I would definitively place this into Bordeaux’ left bank, perhaps a top St. Estephe like Cos or even Montrose from 95/96. Personally I would hold this for another 3-4 years and hope for those still fairly big and not particularly smooth tannins to soften a bit. The fruit concentration is definitively still there to go for another 20 years

September 17, 2018 - A ton of sediment coating the bottle and a bit of bricking in the color. Faint nose on opening with just a touch of punk. After one hour it was opening nicely, the nose had cleared, fruit came up. Drank it at three hours with steak, a lovely old Cab with all the character of Napa.

(Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve) Group's #8 (my #8) – 85 pts.; 0, 1, 3, 7 – dark magenta color; musty, moldy nose that largely blows off, after 45 minutes in the glass, to reveal a tart black fruit nose; tart, berry and charcoal palate; short finish
