October 24, 2021 - Really good wine. drank over three hours but approachable early. Still plenty of life left.
August 21, 2021 - third of four drank with braised pork shoulder. This 17 year old is drinking wonderfully. Rich and elegant dark fruits with licorice and earth. Drink or hold.
December 23, 2020 - I am sad for those who did not have a good experience with this wine. Cork was fine and intact - decanted for 45 minutes. Plums and a bit of grilled meat on the nose. Concentrated and layered on the palate with blueberries, currants, plums, blackberries and some fine earthiness. Still a bit of tannin to balance a long, semi-sweet creamy finish. No heat, no prunes, no fruit bomb - this is still exquisitely balanced. Well stored bottles with fine provenance likely have another couple of years at peak. Absolutely delicious!! 93+
November 22, 2020 - Very little fruit left and even less structure. Should have consumed 10 years earlier.
April 10, 2020 - From 75cl, literally rotten cork extracted over sweaty minutes with my two-pronged opener, wine ruined: TCA and mould and rot. Quite why a supposedly excellent Australian producer still chose to bottle a premium wine under inferior cork as late as the 2004 vintage is beyond my comprehension. Screwcap had already been established several years, ideology can’t have been the reason... Anyway, congratulations! Your disgustingly ruined wine successfully disappointed this consumer (who bought it on release and cellared it under perfect conditions). NR
April 3, 2020 - Great balance with tones of dark berries, dark chocolate and scent of oak with vanilla. With tertiary tones of earth, leather and moist soil
August 4, 2019 - This was my last and third bottle. Appeared a lot more sweeter and jammier than the last two bottles which i drank over the past two years. Not much structure hence i wont recommend it.
December 29, 2018 - If u like it BIG, this is for u!
November 4, 2018 - Decanted, Deep purple color, floral and ash on the nose, ash, blackberry fruit and leather on palate, full bodied but balanced. Despite 15.5% alcohol it does not tast hot. Great finish. Still has a few years left.
March 1, 2018 - From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted 45 minutes, continued to improve over 2 hours. I enjoyed this bottle a lot more than my last one only 6 months ago. Big, fat, inky, blackberry-essence Aussie shiraz with 15,5% alc well integrated and fabulous road-tar/funky dark herbal action on the finish. Mature now, no hurry, worth decanting at least an hour in advance. 92(+)P
