  June 10, 2017 - 2 hour decant then off to the restaurant. 13.5%. Só Touriga Nacional. Bottle 1285 of 2511
  Inky purple - hints of flowers in a tight nose - full in the mouth - decent balance around mid-colour fruit - excellently stylish, long finish - fine wine now, but with many years ahead - I expect it to improve.
  This was wine, and varietal wine, of the year in the Portuguese Wine Challenge 2017 (http://www.concursovinhosdeportugal.pt/premiados).

   Spread all over Dão before Phylloxera but then almost died
   New beginning in the nineties

   “Married with Mourisco, Touriga Nacional originated several other grapes such as Touriga Franca and Tinta da Barca in Portugal.
   This grapes were harvested in a vineyard with several varieties.
   Granitic Soil. Perfect acidity level
   Floral aromas (Earl Grey tea)
   Like all Dão reds this is a wine for the cellar, for decades
  
  Nose shows a great deal of old butter: thus old wood, possibly American oak. Palate offers big plum, a nice bite, a bit of tobacco--all as is proper to Touriga Nacional. The cross of Mourisco and Touriga Nacional yielded Touriga Franca, the most planted varietal in the Douro (ca. 20%)
